Overview

The Police and Constabulary Almanac was a yearly publication which detailed police roles and ranks by constabulary setting out names and contacts.

It also listed multiple other police agencies and government bodies along with contact points. The level of detail varies greatly, sometimes being quite fine grained while at other points providing skeleton level information. In terms of undercover policing, it is particularly useful at giving an understanding of the hierarchical structure and organisation of the Metropolitan Police, the various codes for policing district within the Metropolitan Policing District, and also the relevant part of the Home Office.

It was published by R. Hazell & Co and later Sweet & Maxwell. The Undercover Research Group has acquired copies for multiple years and provided. As a note of caution, generally, the data is correct only for a point of time in the year prior to the year of publishing.
