Overview

Action Bangladesh was part of Operation Omega, a campaign group set up in 1971 by War Resisters International and chaired by Ron Moody of Peace News.

The groups’ shared goal was to publicise the humanitarian crisis caused by the 1971 Bangladesh War of Independence and to provide direct aid by entering East Pakistan, later Bangladesh, to distribute supplies to affected civilians. It was spied on by HN345 ‘Peter Fredericks’. Although no intelligence reports were published by the Inquiry, the group is mentioned in both the SDS and Special Branch Annual Reports of 1971.

A detailed account of Fredericks anf 'Operation Omega/Action Bangladesh' is given in a article by David Bergman.
