HN118 'Simon C. Wellings' is the alias of an undercover police officer who infiltrated anti-globalisation group 'Globalise Resistance' and the Socialist Workers Party. He was exposed when he accidentally caused a debriefing session with his police handlers to be caught in a recording on a telephone answering machine in 2004, and left the group. However, he continued as an undercover until 2007, with a second deployment targeting the Dissent! network which organised around the G8 Summit in Scotland in 2006.
On 19 January 2017, the Undercover Policing Inquiry confirmed that 'Simon Wellings' was an undercover police officer who had served with the Metropolitan Police's Special Demonstration Squad. He is also referred to by the cipher HN118.
