Overview
HN958 Peter Imbert was a Metropolitan Police Special Branch and Anti-Terrorist Squad police officer from 1956. Imbert served as chief constable of Thames Valley Police in 1979-1985 and, from 1983-1985, chaired the Association of Chief Police Officers (ACPO). He served as commissioner of the Metropolitan Police from January 1987 to December 1992. Having retired from the police, Imbert joined private security firm The Inkerman Group and, in that role, claimed that protest groups such as Plane Stupid posed a threat as ‘ecoterrorists’.
