Overview

The IOPC, formerly the Independent Police Complaints Commission, is the government body charged with investigating police misconduct.

It has no formal role in the Undercover Policing Inquiry, though it has conducted investigations of relevance to its work.

Most notably, this included Operation Hibiscus,  an 'Investigation into the shredding of material potentially relevant to the planned Undercover Policing Public Inquiry' and other issues of misbehavour by the National Domestic Extremism and Disorder Intelligence Unit following complaints by Baroness Jenny Jones.

This is addressed further under the topic of Assurance.
